The Foundry Golf Club Wedding in Fall | Morgan + Peyton

The Foundry Golf Club Wedding Venue | Powhatan, VA

Oh my goodness, I am so excited to share Morgan and Peyton's Fall The Foundry Golf Club Wedding!

Morgan and Peyton met while attending grad school at William and Mary. Peyton was completing his MBA, and Morgan was in law school. And there were a lot of fortunate events that led to this Colorado gal finding this Virginia guy!

Peyton's father gave a speech at the rehearsal dinner the night before their wedding to all their gathered friends and family. He listed all of the different twists and turns that Peyton's journey had taken in order for him to meet Morgan. It was clear that Morgan and Peyton were closer to meeting one another after each point in the story. Peyton's mom would energetically chime in and say, "it was written in the stars!"

Sandy with The Foundry Golf Club venue shared how the timing of the rain the day before the wedding also played a role in the story. When The Foundry Golf Club has events, golfers often have the opportunity to wager on a plastic duck to "race" the other golfers' ducks down Fine Creek. The water in the creek had been low for months, so a few of the race ducks had been stranded in the rocks, never making it to the finish line. The rain on their rehearsal day freed several of those plastic ducks that were stuck. A golfer turned in one of these ducks on the day of the couple's rehearsal, and when flipped over, the duck had their surname written on the duck’s belly!

Peyton and Morgan chose The Foundry Golf Club as their wedding venue for several reasons; It has special meaning to the groom's parents and the terrain also reminds Morgan a bit of her hometown in Colorado - minus the Rocky Mountains, of course! This venue is magical and was the perfect place for their special day!

It was touching to see how close the couple is to all of their family. Morgan shared a sweet moment with her mom and stepmother before stepping into her dress. The three ladies sat on the porch watching Morgan open gifts from them in white boxes with gold lettering labeled "Something Old," "Something New," "Something Borrowed," and "Something Blue." They gave her a rosary to wrap around her bouquet, blue crystal hairpins, an antique ring that was her grandmother's, and a new pearl bracelet.

Later, as Morgan's bridesmaids snuggled up under blankets in the rocking chairs outside on the porch, Morgan stepped into her dress. Her mother, stepmom, mother-in-law, and aunt all helped her get ready for her big day! They all took turns helping her put on her jewelry, shoes, etc. Lastly, it was time for her grandmother to step in and help. She had made Morgan's beautiful cathedral-length veil, and she was honored to help put Morgan put it on!

Morgan and Peyton shared a first look at the bridge, and Peyton was touched when Morgan gifted hi a leather-bound Bible with his initials engraved in gold. Afterward, Morgan’s grandfather served as the couple’s officiant as they were married in front of the beautiful arched window of the historical stone building.

During the reception, Morgan's brothers gave a toast. They shared that they always knew she was there for them, even when she left for college. The bond that Morgan and Peyton share with their brothers share is so sweet!

Wanting the reception atmosphere to feel like a party from the very beginning, the couple decided to forego a formal, sit-down dinner, and instead opted for different food stations set up around the perimeter of the tent. Their plan worked, and from the moment the couple invited the guests to join them on the dance floor during their First Dance, the dance floor remained packed.

Their band was phenomenal, and the vendor team was outstanding! Toward the end of the evening, top hats, feather boas, mascarade masks, and glow sticks were handed out as a nod to their wedding falling on Halloween weekend, which only added to the fun. At one point, the band pulled the couple on stage, and the guests loved seeing the pair on stage dancing and singing along as the band played.

Morgan and Peyton, your wedding day was extraordinary, and I absolutely loved being there to capture your wedding day. Check out some of my favorites from The Foundry Golf Club Wedding in Fall!
