It’s no wonder that Sydney and Matt’s wedding at Virginia Cliffe Inn was an absolute fairy tale since they got engaged in front of a castle! Sydney and Matt are lifelong friends who went to school together since Kindergarten! They were in the same class all the way from 2nd through 5th grade. When they were in middle and high school, they saw each other regularly in band class where Sydney played the flute and Matt played the trombone.

Several years later, Sydney had joined Matt’s family on a Christmas vacation to Walt Disney World Resort. They were taking pictures by the Walt Disney statue in front of Cinderella’s castle when Matt surprised Sydney by getting down on one knee!

The couple had originally thought they’d like an intimate backyard wedding, but as their guest list grew, they realized that wasn’t practical. When they visited the beautiful Virginia Cliffe Inn, they fell in love with the venue and knew they’d found a perfect solution. The venue, located in Glen Allen, VA is both intimate and stately and packed with lots of southern charm!

I love beautiful historic architecture, and the Virginia Cliffe Inn made a beautiful backdrop for Sydney and Matt’s wedding ceremony! The musicians sat on the upper porch and played as the guests waited for the ceremony to begin as well as while the wedding party was entering and exiting the ceremony.

The rain that had been plaguing the state all month was nowhere to be seen on this Saturday, and the sun tried its best to peak out from behind the clouds. Since it was a winter wedding held outdoors, rolled up blankets in the wedding color scheme of grey and Christmas green awaited guests in their seats to keep them cozy. Bridesmaids wore ivory pashminas over their green bridesmaids gowns, gifts from the bride to help them stay warm in style!
