Travel Photography - Folly Beach, SC Polar Bear Plunge

Before hitting the road back to Virginia after celebrating NYE in Charleston, SC, we went to Folly Beach to take some pictures. The beach in winter is so beautiful and peaceful, and we were treated to this serene, beautifully lit beach.

Temperatures were in the 30s, but felt colder when the bracing wind would hit.

I can't shoot with my beloved mittens on, but I sure kept them close by to warm up the fingers when I wasn't shooting!

As we parked the car, the parking lot attendant asked if we were planning on going for a swim, and Trip joked that he was considering it.

After we took some pictures and enjoyed a nice walk on the beach (my first time walking on the beach in a wool coat and boots!), we noticed a crowd of oddly dressed people forming by the pier. We went to investigate and learned that a Bill Murray Look-Alike Polar Bear Plunge was about to take place!

We stayed a little longer. We were not exactly warmed by the excitement of the plungers but were still curious enough to brave the cold.
